Joint meeting with KWACS: Wednesday 5th February, 7.45 at the Church

Dr Keith Kirby gave a talk about the vital importance of trees: “ A view from the bramble patch – woodland conservation past, present and future.” Dr Kirby is a visiting researcher in the Plant Sciences Department at the University of Oxford. He did his D Phil in the Forestry Department in Oxford in the early 1970s, looking at the growth of bramble. He then joined the Nature Conservancy Council in 1979 as a woodland ecologist and remained in that role through its transformation first to English Nature and then Natural England. He retired in April 2012 and moved back to Oxford.
